Marie Jane (Bouthillet) West Luczak

Marie Jane Bouthillet West Luczak passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family at the age of 84 after a 6-month battle with brain cancer.

Jane is preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Joseph Luczak; parents, Adolf and Bertha Bouthillet; sisters, Doris Boulden and Louise Otteni; and step-daughter Denise Luczak-Biddle. She is survived by her son and his wife, Richard and Sharon West; daughter Deborah Brady; sister, Denise Needles and step-daughter, Karen Luczak. She also enjoyed close relationships with her grandchildren, Sarah Brady, Patrick Brady, Jennifer Crowder, Michael Luczak, Daniel Biddle, and great-grandson Theodore Brady.

Jane worked at Dupont as a secretary for 17 years after spending time raising her children as a homemaker. She took great pride in her ability to organize everything from closets to finances. Family was always first for Jane and she looked forward to holidays and family gatherings from her time with Joe and her sisters to Christmas mornings with her grandchildren. She enjoyed many summers on the Chesapeake Bay at Buttonwood Beach.

Jane enjoyed all types of crafts and activities and delivered many presents from her pastimes crocheting and creating needlepoints. Jane and her husband Joe spent time traveling and visiting casinos; after his passing she spent a good deal of time adventuring with her niece, Donna Eisenbrey. Bingo and coloring books filled her later years.

Jane was a beacon of light in the life of many and she leaves behind a legacy of strength, perseverance and love.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday, August 17 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Holy Family Church, 15 Gender Rd., Newark, DE 19713, where a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:15 AM. Interment will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle.

Jane’s wish is for flowers to be sent to decorate her church.
