Josephine C. (Carpentieri) Tardona

Josephine (Carpentieri) Tardona, 92, of Wilmington, DE peacefully passed away in the comfort of her home on Thursday, May 21, 2015.

Josephine was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 7, 1922, daughter of the late John and Michelina (Pascarelli) Carpentieri.  She was employed as an administrative secretary with Montgomery Ward in New York for 15 years.  Josephine made Wilmington her home in 1961 and has been an active and beloved resident of the Maple Crest community for more than 50 years.  She was a loving and devoted homemaker, and a faithful member of St. John the Beloved Parish.  Josephine enjoyed volunteering her time for many years with Meals on Wheels and the Delaware State Hospital.

Her husband of 62 years, James E. Tardona, Sr., passed away on May 28, 2008.

Josephine will be dearly missed by her son, James E. Tardona, Jr.; and her grandson, Tyler C. Tardona.  She is also survived by her brother, Carmine Carpentieri; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Louis and Pio Carpentieri; and her sister, Marie Lancione.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek, Wilmington, DE 19808 on Friday, May 29 from 10:00-11:30AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 at 12:00PM.  Entombment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Josephine may be made to St. John the Beloved Parish (address above) or Meals on Wheels, 100 W. 10th Street, #207, Wilmington, DE 19801.
