Joseph Bruce Brunozzi, age 75, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on December 10, 2017 with his loving family by his side.
Born and raised in Wilmington, Bruce was the son of the late Joseph V. and Armelina L. (Floriolli) Brunozzi. He was a graduate of Salesianum High School and attended Goldey Beacom College. For the love of his country, Bruce proudly served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves for six years. Bruce was a carpenter by trade and worked in the family business, Joseph V. Brunozzi & Son, and the Carpenter’s Union, Local 626.
Bruce was a devout Catholic and volunteered his talents to St. Anthony of Padua Parish. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an Adoree for the Chapel of Divine Mercy. Bruce was also an active community member for the City of Wilmington.
Bruce enjoyed scuba diving, swimming, classic and antique cars, and traveling.
Bruce adored his family and was a wonderful Husband, Dad, and Pop-Pop. He will be missed more than words can say and he left an amazing legacy of love.
Bruce is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Maria C. (Pernice) Brunozzi; his daughters, Mariadora Weeks (Joe), Diana Brunozzi (Mike Mitsdarfer), Gina Willis (Jimmy) and Nicola Sembiante (Mark); his grandchildren, Matthew, Nicolette, Dominic, Olivia, Alexandra, Christina, Angelo, Sophia and Luca; his sister, Linda Schilling; as well as his dear extended family.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Heartland Hospice and the Hospice House for their compassionate care and support.
Family and friends may visit on Friday, December 15 from 9:30 to 11:30 AM at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808. Following, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 PM at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 901 N. DuPont St., Wilmington, DE 19805. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery’s Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony of Padua Parish.
