Bette Duff, age 93, formerly of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully in Glenside, PA on Wednesday, August 16, 2017.
Born in Asheville, NC, she was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (McDonnell) Doherty. For 27 years, Bette and her husband, Joe, lived in Wawa, PA before moving to Lancaster. In Lancaster, Bette and Joe embarked on a faith filled journey and created The Vineyard Retreat Center. Later, they moved to Delaware where they quickly embraced their new community. Bette was a member of Resurrection Parish, the L.A.F.F Group, and Jesus House. In 2010, she made her home with her oldest daughter, Betsy.
In her spare time, Bette was an avid swimmer, and enjoyed playing cards, Rummikub and Yahtzee. She was also a talented artist and enjoyed painting.
Family was the center of her world. Bette was the beloved matriarch of her family and treasured spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Bette was predeceased by her husband, Joe Duff, Jr.; her grandson, Warren “Breck” Breckenridge; as well as her parents and her siblings. She is survived by her son, Joe Duff III; her daughters, Betsy Breckenridge, Denise Oelschlager (Richard), Eileen Richards (Tom); her 9 grandchildren and her great grandchildren; as well as her dear friend, Rose Barnes.
Family and friends may visit at Resurrection Parish, 3000 Videre Dr., Wilmington, DE 19808 on Tuesday, August 22 from 10:00-10:45AM, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
