Regina (Jean) Williams passed away peacefully, with family near, on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 following a long and full life. Born in Pittston, PA in 1925, Jean was one of seven children born to John and Bridget Shea. She and her husband Joseph moved to New Castle DE in 1952. She worked for many years as a CNA at the Methodist Country House. She was a consummate sports fan, including the Nittany Lions and the Philadelphia Eagles and a skillful backyard competitor in horseshoes, croquet and other games, and was a surprisingly good player at beer pong (provided someone else drank the winnings). She was always there for her children and especially her grandchildren, always happy and willing to shuttle them to events, watch their sports and performances, or just sit for them when needed. Jean remained active throughout her life and her sharp wit and humor, there to the end, will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; her parents and her six siblings. She is survived by her children, Rita Veale (Thomas), Michael (Laura), and Michele Czupryna (Michael); along with 6 grandchildren, Megan Weyl (Rob), Adam Weyl (Leann), Marcie Williams, Aaron Williams, Patrick Czupryna (Carly) and Brendan Czupryna; 2 great-grandchildren, Mason and Owen Weyl; sister-in-law, Delores Shea; many loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to Joanie Steinhardt P.A. for her dedicated care and friendship to mom; to the entire Staff of The Summit and to Delaware Hospice.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 16 from 5:00-7:00PM at the Doherty Funeral Home, Pike Creek, Wilmington, DE 19808.
An additional visitation will be held on Friday, November 17 from 10:00-10L45AM at Holy Spirit Church, 12 Winder Road, New Castle, DE 19720. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM, followed by interment at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Center, Newark, DE 19711 (www.delawarehospice.org).
