Virginia Armstrong Obituary

Virginia S. Armstrong, age 94, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.

She was born in Marshallton, DE, daughter of the late Clifford and Naomi (Brackin) Simpson; and was a graduate of Conrad High School and Goldey Commercial College. She was a lifelong member of Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church. In addition to raising her family, she was a member of the church craft group and bell choir, and enjoyed tatting. She will be lovingly remembered for her dedication to her family and her sense of humor.

Virginia is survived by her children, Sue Howell (Jr.), Steve “Jay” (MaryCay), and David (Patricia); her grandchildren, Rob Moran (Beth), Kelly Laird (Kevin), Stacey Zulinski, Jody Howell, Katie Manieri (Chris), and Mollie Armstrong (Calvin Forbes); her great-grandchildren Kelly, Krissy, Emily, Amber, Anastasia (Dan), Jonathan, Carson, Makaylin, Michael and Olive; and her great-great-grandchildren, Brinson, Rowyn, and Lydia

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stephen, Sr.; and her siblings, Bill Simpson (Doris), Evelyn Clark (Bill), and Jean Haigh (Harry).

A funeral service will be celebrated at 11:00am on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, 500 McKennans Church Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00am. Interment will be held in the adjoining cemetery.

Virginia’s family would like to thank the staff at MillCroft Nursing Home for their care and compassion over the past several years.
