Thomas Joseph Groves, 36, of Wilmington, Delaware passed away unexpectedly at his home in Philadelphia on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. He was born in Philadelphia on May 28, 1986.
An avid Philadelphia sports fan, Tom was especially animated when it came to his beloved Eagles and Phillies. An important part of any Eagles home game was tailgating, which Tom was easily able to turn into a Five Star event. One of the highlights of his life was celebrating both the Phillies World Series win and the Eagles Super Bowl win with his dad, sister and brother.
Tom’s true passion was in culinary arts. An extremely talented chef, he was a consummate professional and perfectionist in the kitchen, always organized, calm and collected whether dinner for two or a reception for two hundred. His creations rivaled those of the best.
Tom will be dearly missed by his parents, Thomas and Marie (Rinick) Groves; his siblings, Nicholas “Nick Pesci” Groves (Jill); his sister, Deanna Groves; his girlfriend, Lily Suvorova; as well as many extended family members and friends. As a devoted animal lover, Tom also leaves his “babies”, Roxy, Blue, Tails and Lionel.
Sadly, Tom was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Michael Groves.
Family and friends are invited to visit at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington on Tuesday, June 14 from 10:00-11:45AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00PM. Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of Tom’s love for animals, donations in his memory may be made to the Delaware SPCA, 455 Stanton Christiana Road, Newark, DE 19713 (www.delspca.org).
