Sandra K. (Thomas) White

Sandra K. (Thomas) White, 86, of Newark, Delaware peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.  Born in Mauch Chunk, Pennsylvania (now Jim Thorpe) on July 10, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Myra (Marsden) Thomas.              

Sandra and her family relocated to Delaware during her childhood.  She attended Warner Middle School, where she excelled at basketball, and was a graduate of Wilmington High School, class of 1954.  She also enjoyed ice skating in her younger years. 

Sandra married her husband, Peter on October 29, 1960 and became a loving wife and mother.  A talented cook, she was proud to be a devoted homemaker and provide a comfortable home for her family.  She had a great interest in the British royal family and loved a good shopping trip.  Sandra was also a 76ers basketball fan and enjoyed trips to Lancaster, reading, word search puzzles and Sudoku.

Her husband of 56 years, Peter J. White, passed away on March 22, 2017.

Sandra is survived by her children, John White (Terri), Jamie White (Corey) and Carrie Monti (Mike); her grandchildren, Jennifer Greenwalt (Kyle) and Michael Monti; her brother, Ralph Thomas (Libby); her sister, Mary Lou Wurster (David).

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Wednesday, May 31 from 9:00 – 10:30AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington at 11:00AM, immediately followed by interment in All Saints Cemetery.
