Paul F. Mays

Paul F. Mays, age 69, of Newark, DE, passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021. He was born in Wilmington, son of the late Paul H. and Mary C. (Higley) Mays. Paul spent the first 29 years of his life on the Granogue Estate in Montchanin. He attended St Joseph on the Brandywine School and graduated from A I DuPont High School. He went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree from what was then, Wilmington College, being named to the “Who’s Who” of colleges.

Paul worked at the Brandywine Racetrack for several years as a car valet, always stating that this was the best job that he ever had. He also worked at Wilmington College for a time before working at Morgan Millwork. Morgan was sold to Anderson Logistics where Paul continued his work as an IT logistics technician until he retired in 2009.

He always owned a boston terrier, all of which he loved and treated as his children. Although he outlived several of his pets, including Penny, Buttons, Tinker and Morgan; and is survived by Katie, the love of his life.

He is also survived by his caregiver cousins, Helen Sowden and Elaine Zakrzewski and numerous other cousins.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, October 1, 2021 at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery.
