Ok-soon Kim was called by God and left us at the age of 93 on Monday, May 11, 2020.
She was born on March 14, 1927 in Han-nam-Dong, Seoul, South Korea. She was the second child, and first daughter, of her parents’ (Man-suk Choe, father and Keum-soon Yoo, mother) three sons and three daughters. She came to America in 1980 and lived in New York City. She moved to Delaware in 1985. Since 1990, she lived at Woodlea Elderly Apartments in Pike Creek. She was a very typical Korean mother who lived a life of dedication and sacrifice for her family.
Ok-soon is survived by her husband of 73 years, Do-won Kim; four children: daughter, Young Hee Choe and her husband, Sung Mun Choe; son, Young Keun Kim and his wife, Chong-mee Kim; daughter, Young Suk Park and her husband, Hee Joon Park; daughter, Young-Ok Choi and her husband, Joon-yong Choi; seven grandchildren: granddaughter, Regina Choe and her husband, Pilsup Chung; granddaughter, Yena Parrett and her husband, Brian Parrett; granddaughter, Elisa Hong and her husband, Micky Hong; grandson, Han Wool Kim and his wife, Rondaya Kim; grandson, Samuel Choi and his wife, Lisa Choi; granddaughter, Hanna Kim; grandson, Stephen Choi; eight great grandchildren: Madelyn, Benjamin, William, Addie, Jacob, Liam, Leah and Levi.
She practiced her faith at the Delaware Korean United Methodist Church in Hockessin. Her funeral service will be held privately at the Doherty Funeral Home, and officiated by Rev. Jong-nam Song, pastor of the Delaware Korean United Methodist Church.
