Michael Oaddams, Sr. Obituary

Michael Maverick Oaddams, Sr., age 58, of Smyrna, formerly of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 26, 2018.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, Michael was the son of the late James and Emma Oaddams. He was a graduate of Overbrook High School and Temple University. For the last 22 years, Michael worked at Fidelity National Title Group where he was a Senior Title Examiner/Local Underwriter. He also worked as a Process Server for Family Court in Kent County for the last several years. In his leisure time, Michael loved to build model train sets and add to his extensive coin and beer bottle collection. He was an amazing cook who loved using his grill or smoker. He always looked forward to Spring when his favorite Rita’s Water Ice opened. Michael knew a little something about everything, especially when it came to history, space and NASA. He loved watching Drunk History, Seinfeld, Jeopardy, Family Feud, American Pickers and Pawn Stars on TV. Earth, Wind & Fire could almost always be heard blasting in his luxury cars, which he worked so hard to have. Michael was a NASCAR fan and was most importantly an avid Eagles fan and season ticket holder for 30 years. Witnessing the Birds win the Super Bowl was by far one of the greatest moments in his life.

Michael will be remembered as a warm and loving family man, who loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved the holidays where all of the family was together. His family will treasure the wonderful memories they have together during family vacations, especially on their camping trips and beach getaways, specifically the Outer Banks. Michael was a great listener, who was always there when you needed him and gave the best advice.

Michael is survived by his wife, Genevieve A. (Leighow) Oaddams; his children, Christina M. Oaddams, Michael M. Oaddams, Jr. (Ivette Oaddams), Brianna L. Oaddams (Sean Rodrigues); the mother of his children, Teresa Atwell; his step-children, James R. Elliotte, Sabrina J. Elliotte (Jorge Aguirre) and Tyler L. Elliotte (Bobbie-Lyn Johnston); his six grandchildren; his sister, Alice Keyes and his step-sisters, Tara Gatewood and Sherrie Gatewood-Gaines. He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, James Oaddams; his sister, Tracy Oaddams; and his step-mother, Lina E. Oaddams.
