Mary Jane Joswick, age 66, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2019 with her loving family by her side.
Born in Wilmington, DE, Mary Jane was the daughter of the late Ethel (Romanowski) and John Novack, Sr. She attended St. Hedwig’s School before graduating from Wilmington High School in 1970. Before retiring in 2000, Mary Jane had worked in office administration at the City of Wilmington and the National Publishers Service. After retiring, she enjoyed being a homemaker, where she cleaned and organized until the whole house shined.
Family was the center of Mary Jane’s life. She was always there whenever they needed her. Mary Jane loved spending time with her family and being a loving “Babci” to her six grandchildren. Through the years, there were many treasured memories from spending time at the beach, especially going on the rides and the boardwalk at Ocean City, MD, and Rehoboth Beach. Mary Jane enjoyed traveling on their many family vacations and cruises to the Caribbean, Hawaii, Disney. Mary Jane loved cooking and eating her favorite Polish dishes. She also loved to dance to polkas and go shopping.
In her leisure time, Mary Jane loved playing Bingo and cards with her close knit group of friends. She was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan.
Mary Jane is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Thomas A. Joswick; her daughter, Jill Stanley (Drew); her grandchildren, Taylor Allston, Kelsey and Karson Kirby, and Haley, Lily and Julia Stanley; her brothers, Robert Novack (Vickie) and Joseph Novack (Johanna); and her sisters-in-law, June Novack and Betty Novack; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Lori Marie Allston; her parents, Ethel (Romanowski) and John Novack, Sr.; and her brothers, John Novack, Jr. and Larry Novack.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Delaware Hospice, especially Nichole and Samaria, for their compassionate care of Mary Jane.
Family and friends may visit from 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday, December 18 at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808. An additional viewing will be held from 10:00 AM to 11 AM on Thursday, December 19 at the funeral home followed by a funeral service will be held at 11 AM. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
