Mary Butler Obituary

Mary Alice (Campbell) Butler, 86, of Wilmington, Delaware passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 6, 2021.

Born in Pittsville, Maryland to parents Russell Hancock and Pauline (Campbell Hancock) Lemon. Mary was raised in Salisbury, Maryland. She graduated from Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, Delaware. Mary and John Butler were married in November 1955 and shared 42 wonderful years raising three sons. They enjoyed many cherished friendships over the years.

Mary was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She was intelligent, creative and had a wonderful sense of humor. A dedicated homemaker, Mary loved to cook and spend time with her family and friends. Mary enjoyed warm weather and relaxing surrounded by her beautiful flower beds and plantings. Mary was also an avid life-long, well respected bridge player.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her son Daniel in 2019. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her sisters in law: Nancy McDonough and Dee Rothwell; sons and daughters in law: Pamela Butler, J. Craig Butler and Mark (Dawn) Butler; and her beloved grandchildren: Kelly, Morgan, Emily, Haley, Sean, Samantha, Logan and Holly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Monday, March 8th at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808. Internment at Delaware Veteran's Memorial Cemetery will be private.
