Kelly M. Hodgson, 43, of Wilmington, Delaware passed away at her home on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.
Kelly was born on January 23, 1981, and grew up a central part of a vibrant, large, and loving family. Kelly was a true fighter and an inspiration to many. Through the years, she made many lifelong friendships through her work at Bassett Furniture and Bank of America. Wherever Kelly was – she was the life of the party, with a sweet soul that brought laughter and joy to all who knew her. She thrived in the heart of celebration, the unmistakable soul of every gathering, her passion for the music on her cherished vinyl albums filling the air with an infectious energy. Her affection wasn't reserved for just the melodies and the fun; it extended deeply to her beloved animals, creatures she adored with every fiber of her being. And, naturally, at the core of her vibrant world was her family, the fundamental essence of her joy and love, a bond as undeniable as it was profound. She was the perfect example of a loving and devoted mother to Bryon. Her heart, full of love, always there to support, guide, and cherish him. She was not just his mother; she was his guardian, his mentor, and his most fervent cheerleader, and she loved him more than anything. Kelly’s family would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the many doctors and nurses who put so much love and expertise into Kelly’s care.
Kelly is survived by her son, Bryon Harding; her mother, Ellen Goode; her father, Samuel Hodgson; her siblings, Mackenzie Goode, Stacy Favarulo, Carey Kane (Shaun), Todd Goode (Sarah), Samantha Marcum (Blake) and Wes Hodgson; her nieces, Amanda Hagerty (Taylor), Lizzy Marcum and Isabella Goode; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her two cats, Finnegan and Veda. She was preceded in death by her beloved stepfather, William “Bill” Goode; her grandfather, John “Jack” McDerby; her grandmother, Margaret “Peggy” McDerby; and her uncle, Eugene “Gene” McDerby.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Wednesday, April 17 from 9:30 – 11:00AM. Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM, immediately followed by entombment in All Saints Cemetery.
