Julie Ann (Sheppard) Turner

Julie Ann Sheppard Turner, born May 18, 1969, passed away at home July 6, 2018, after fighting a long battle against breast cancer with courage and determination. She was a kind soul who, through years of difficult treatment, demonstrated strength and grace.

Julie leaves behind her husband, Markquis; her beloved daughter, Fiona; her sister, Myrna Dorazio (Jim); her brother, Barry Sheppard; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; as well as many dear friends. Her parents, Merton Sheppard and Sally Sheppard preceded her in passing.

Julie worked for Environmental Alliance in Wilmington for more than 25 years. Her environmental consulting and information technology career began after she graduated from the University of Delaware in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in environmental science. She later earned a master’s degree in Information Technology. A graduate of Thomas McKean High School in 1987, Julie proudly participated in the school marching band. She was a lifelong resident of Wilmington, Delaware.

Julie enjoyed spending time with family and friends, exercising, laughing and going to the beach. She volunteered for the Delaware Humane Society and always had cats in her life to love. She passed her compassion for animals on to her young daughter. Julie was a supportive and caring friend who will be deeply missed by all those who love her.

A memorial gathering for Julie will be held at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd.,Wilmington, DE on Thursday, July 12th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm.
