Joseph A. Talamo, Sr., AKA “Dilly”, 99, of Elkton, Maryland peacefully passed away surrounded by loving family on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Calvert Manor Healthcare Center.  He was born in Wilmington, DE on January 16, 1919, one of twelve children of the late Vito and Antoinette (Guadayno) Talamo.

Mr. Talamo was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II and participated in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre, during which he received a Bronze Star. Upon his honorable discharge from military service, he embarked on a long entrepreneurial career as a restaurant owner, a salesman, and was especially known for his variety of hand crafted sausage which he distributed throughout Little Italy and beyond.  Mr. Talamo enjoyed memberships with the Prince of Piedmont Lodge in Wilmington and the VFW Post 8175 in Elkton.

Mr. Talamo was a devoted, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  He will be dearly missed by his wife of 75 years, Hazel (Jones) Talamo; his daughters, Marie Davitt, Lisa O’Donnell and husband, Michael; his son, Joseph Talamo, Jr.; his grandchildren, Angela, Michael, Joseph, Vince, Vito, Gina, Miranda and Sean; his fifteen great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and their families.

He was predeceased by his great grandson, Joshua; his brothers, Albert, John, James, Victor, Ralph, Anthony, Frank and Nicholas; his sisters, Annie Troise, Carrie Agostini and Florence Dominick.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to all of Mr. Talamo’s caregivers, especially Karen and Margy, as well as to the faculty and staff of Calvert Manor.  We appreciate all of you!
