Joseph A. DiEmedio, Sr.

Joseph A. DiEmedio, Sr., age 98, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2018 with his loving family by his side. Born in Wilmington, he was the son of the late Alfred and Nancy (Leoni) DiEmedio.

Joe proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was awarded the Bronze Star for Heroism. Before retiring, Joe was a brick mason for BAC Local #1 PA/DE for many years.

Joe is predeceased by his beloved wife of 68 years, Mary A. (Mangini) DiEmedio and his son, Joseph A. DiEmedio, Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Elaine Hall (Richard); his son, Thomas P. DiEmedio; his grandchildren, Pam Lipka (Richard) and Heather Cashdollar; and his great grandchildren, Kyle Lipka and Zoey Cashdollar. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff of Brackenville Center for their compassionate care and kindness of Joseph.

Services will be privately held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joe’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association-Delaware Chapter, 240 N. James St. , Newport, DE 19804.
