John William Fersch, Sr.

John William Fersch Sr. “Skip”, age 83 years, of Wilmington, DE passed away on September 3rd, 2021. He was the beloved husband to Mary (Brzoski) Fersch, with whom he shared 64 wonderful years of marriage. John was the son of the late Louis and Elizabeth (Boch) Fersch and the son in-law of the late Anthony and Genevieve (Sielski) Brzoski.  

John graduated from Brown Vocational High School in 1956. He went on to become a talented craftsman and avid woodworker. John owned and operated his own business, Fersch Construction, for 31 years before his retirement. John loved fishing on the Delaware Bay, eating crabs and fried chicken and spending time with his friends and family, especially at his beach house in Angola By The Bay.  

John will be forever missed by his wife Mary Fersch (Brzoski); his children, John Fersch Jr. (Deborah Szubielski), Donna Szubielski (Edward), Steven Fersch (Dana Aleshire) and Kenneth Fersch (Jessica Ciccone); as well as his adoring 9 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808 on Saturday, September 18th, 2021 at 11:00am. Friends are family are invited to visit beginning at 10:00am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
