Jason Francis Godwin

Jason Francis Godwin, 37, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2018.  Jason was born on October 16, 1981 to Francis and Maureen Godwin and was raised in Wilmington where he attended St. Elizabeth’s School until he graduated in 2000. 

Many remember Jason as a fun-loving, sweet guy who would give you the shirt off his back.  He enjoyed many things, but most of all, he enjoyed hanging out with his lifelong friends.  He had a passion for listening to and playing music and you would hardly ever see him without his guitar.  He was a true artist and could pick up a new instrument and immediately know how to play. 

Jason struggled with addiction and lost his way for a while, but with the foundation that his family instilled in him, along with the love of his fiancé, who loved and believed in him, Jason finally felt empowered to choose a life of sobriety.  He cherished his friendships and showed compassion and empathy to others struggling with addiction.

Jason is survived by his parents, Francis and Maureen (McFarland) Godwin; brother, Jerry and his wife, Emily Needles; sister, Kiki Bowen and her husband, Chris; and niece and nephew, Kylee and Christopher (C.J.) Bowen.  Jason is also survived by his loving fiancé, Alecia Engle.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30am on Friday, December 7, 2018, at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808.
