James Ellis Obituary

James E. Ellis of Avondale, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 8, 2021 from post-operative complications at just 78 years old.  Jim was born in Logan, UT on March 19, 1943 and his family settled in Salem, OR where he spent his childhood years. He attended college at Oregon State University where he graduated with a Master’s Degree in Agronomy.  Jim joined DuPont after college and had a great career in sales and marketing management.  He was passionate about his work and his favorite assignment was the 15 wonderful years he spent in Brazil progressing through various positions up to senior management.  After retiring from DuPont Jim continued his career with Gowan as a consultant and finally retired in 2016.

Jim lived and enjoyed life to the fullest.  He was a remarkable, caring, and giving man who made lifelong friends around the world.  He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and spending time with his family and friends.  He loved to travel and immerse himself in local culture and food.   Jim especially enjoyed sharing his travel experiences with his daughter, granddaughter and wife on whatever adventure he chose and looked forward to their annual vacation in Mexico.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, George and Enid Ellis; his brother, Claude; his son, Gregory.  Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Kathy Cornette; his daughter, Tami Tracy (Geoff); granddaughter, Alexis Woodward; brothers, Steve and Brent Ellis.

A visitation will be held at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Friday, May 21 from 3:00-4:00PM, with services in celebration of Jim’s life immediately following.  Jim will be laid to rest with his son in Blodgett, Oregon.
