James Blewett Obituary

James “Jim” Blewett passed away at the age of 70 on June 30, 2021 at his home in Hockessin, DE after a short battle with cancer.

Jim was born in Los Angeles, CA to John and Eileen (Hall) Blewett.  He enlisted in the US Army and served six years, including three years stationed in Korea as an aircraft mechanic during the Vietnam War.  Upon returning from Korea, he married his love, Jeannette (Poulin) Blewett, to whom he would remain married for 50 years.

Jim worked in supply chain and logistics for DuPont (and all of its subsequent spin-off companies) for 30 years.  Along the way, he earned his B.S. in Business Management and Administration from Pepperdine University and transferred to Delaware, where he spent the second half of his life.

A faithful husband, devoted father, and doting grandfather, Jim was a warm and boisterous man.  He was always willing to help a family member, friend, or neighbor in need.  He was unfailingly reliable.  He enjoyed sports (especially the Dodgers and Rams), barbecuing on his deck, playing cards, and (when he was able) riding his motorcycle with Jeannette seated behind him.  His greatest joy was attending his grandchildren’s musical and sporting events.  He appreciated spirited discussions and could argue with the best of them.

Jim was predeceased by his parents as well as his sisters Helen Freeburg and Christine Giatti.  He is survived by his wife, Jeannette; his sister, Sharon Margolis; his sons, Tony (Laura) and Brian; and his three grandchildren, Claire, Kevin, and Timothy, who meant the world to him.  He was also an adored uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.

Per his wishes, there will not be a public memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Gary Sinese Foundation, which benefits active duty military, veterans, first responders, and their families.
