George B. McGowan

George B. McGowan, age 86, a Philadelphia resident died January 1, 2019 at Brackenville Center in Hockessin, DE.

Raised in Tioga, George graduated from Roman Catholic High School Class of 1950 and LaSalle University. He earned a Master of Engineering degree at Penn State University. An Army veteran, George served in Korea in 1954.

George is survived by his sister, Marcella McGowan Petrarca, his niece, Marcella Petrarca Gregory and five grand nieces and nephews, all of Landenberg, PA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday, January 8 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Cheltenham, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in George’s name to Roman Catholic High School, 301 N. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19107.
