Frances Ann “Fran” Funaro-Marshall, 53, of Bethany Beach, formerly of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, January 23, 2023.
Born in Wilmington on January 12, 1970, Fran was a graduate of William Penn High School. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Delaware and ultimately earned her Master’s Degree from Wilmington University. Fran was a teacher at St. Peter’s Grade School, St. Matthew’s Grade School and Ursuline Academy.
Fran loved living in Bethany Beach, where she made many friends and acquaintances. She enjoyed riding her bike around the community, long walks along the north side of the Indian River Inlet with her dog, Luna and weekly outings with her friends.
Fran is survived by her sons, Ragan Marshall Jr. and Frank Marshall; her mother, Celeste (Quatrara) Funaro; her sister, Christine Caldwell and husband, Charles “Butch”; her nephew, Adam Caldwell and wife, Ali; her loving companion, Tony Smyth, with whom she shared coffee and dreams. She is also survived by her aunt, Ann Marie Rollo; her cousins, Vincent Rollo (Jennifer), Michael Rollo (Theresa) and Bonnie Dudley (Brandon).
Fran was predeceased by her father, Frank A. Funaro Jr.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 9th and DuPont Streets, Wilmington on Friday, February 10 from 11:00AM – 12:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00PM, immediately followed by entombment at Cathedral Cemetery.
