Ellen L. (Sheehan) Carroll

Ellen L. (Sheehan) Carroll, 85, of Newark passed away peacefully on March 10, 2018.  

Predeceased by her husband Daniel I. Carroll, who died in 1985, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Sheehan.   

Mrs. Carroll will be greatly missed by her children, Daniel (Angie) of Ottawa, Canada, Mary of Newark, DE, Michael (Donna) of Landenberg, PA, Deborah (Patrick) McGreal of Downingtown, PA, Patrick (Cameron McCall) of Seattle, WA and Jennifer Vargas-Carroll of Alhambra, CA.  Also survived by her adored grandchildren, Patrick (Tina) McGreal, Megan (Larry) Ferraro, Dan Carroll, Michael (Jennifer) Carroll, Kaitlin Carroll, Mary Ellen (Mike) Nickels, Sarah Carroll, Catherine (Scott) Glauberg, David (Joanelle) Carroll, Emily Carroll and Nancy Hildinger and great-grandchildren Xavier, William, Henry, Amelia, Michael, Mathew, Nathan, Juliet, Samantha, Theodore and Charles.

 She was predeceased by her great-granddaughter, Caroline, brother Michael Sheehan, brother-in-law, Thomas Joyce and sister-in-law Nancy Cramer.

She is also survived by siblings, Maureen Joyce, Patrick Pierce (Midge) Sheehan, Regina (James) Murray, Eva Sheehan, Lorraine Heard, James Cramer, Mary Ann (Dennis) Irvine, Dorothy Ray and twenty one Sheehan and Carroll nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Carroll was born in Chicago, IL.  As a young woman, she moved from Chicago to southern California where she met and married her husband, Dan.  Ellen was an avid gardener, bowler, crafter and Drummond Hill bridge player.  She enjoyed her  volunteer work at St. Mark’s High School library and St. Francis Hospital and participating in Sodality at Holy Angels and the RCIA program at Resurrection Catholic Church.   Ellen will be remembered for always inviting those who had nowhere to go during the holidays to join her family gatherings.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Resurrection Parish, 3000 Videre Dr., Skyline Ridge on Thursday, March 15 at 11:30 am where friends and family are invited to visitation beginning at 10 am. Burial will be private.
