Elizabeth "Betty" McGowan

Elizabeth “Betty” McGowan passed away peacefully on Sunday May 22, 2022. Betty was born on August 11, 1933, daughter of the late Hedwig and Michael Ragan.  One of seven children, she was born, raised and lived her entire life in Wilmington. Betty graduated from Wilmington High School in 1951.

Betty loved to travel and took many trips to destinations around the United States with her daughter Michelle. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, especially celebrating birthdays and holidays with them.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Maria, and former spouse, Robert McGowan. She is survived by her two daughters, Michelle McGowan and Jackie Stuchlik (Todd) and four grandchildren, Mitch, Jake, Luke, and Jude. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30am on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wilmington, DE. Family and friends may visit at Doherty Funeral Home, 1900 Delaware Avenue, beginning at 10:00am. Interment will be held privately at Cathedral Cemetery.
