Elizabeth Munson Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Carol Munson, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at home surrounded by her family, whom she dearly loved.

She will be tenderly missed by her husband of 60 years, Edwin S. Munson, Jr.; daughters, Sally Rada (David), Sandra Genett (Joseph) both of Hockessin, and Amy Munson of New Castle. She was so proud of the grandsons she left behind: Michael Rada, Joseph Genett, Jr., Jared Genett and Andrew "Baby" Genett. She loved having a large extended family in Northeastern Pennsylvania. She sorely missed her granddaughter, Elizabeth Rada, who died from cancer in 2010. The two of them shared a birthday and are now reunited.

Betty was born in 1937 in West Pittston, Pennsylvania, moving to Delaware in 1965. She was the leader of a Brownie Troop, President of the Llangollen Garden Club and owner of Betty's Bridals. Betty enjoyed gardening, cooking, ceramics, needle point, the Philadelphia Phillies, and Polka music. Her love of cooking led her to develop a cookbook at the Christiana Presbyterian Church as well as a Family Heritage Cookbook with her granddaughter. One of her proudest moments was being selected as the Outstanding Mother of the Year by the News Journal in 1992 which lead to her receiving a tribute from the Delaware State Senate. She truly was completely devoted to her family.

Betty was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, starting at the West Pittston Presbyterian Church where she was married. She was later ordained as a church Elder and a steadfast participant in her son-in-law's Bible Study group. She was very proud that all of her daughters became ordained officers in the Presbyterian Church. Betty loved and trusted God and has surely gone to Heaven.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, 500 McKennans Church Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may visit beginning at 11:00am. Interment will be held in the adjoining cemetery.
