Dolores Marie Myers-Terepka, age 84, of Wilmington, DE went to Heaven, with her son and caregiver by her side, on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 5:10 AM after an approximate 6+ month, courageous battle with cancer, 1 day before her 65th Wedding Anniversary and 25 days before her 85th Birthday.
Dolores was the daughter of Joseph Francis Myers and Helen Teresa Horonkiewicz, both of Wilmington, DE. Dolores was born in Wilmington, DE on Friday, February 28, 1936 and raised on Wilmington’s East Side by her parents and uncle along with her younger brother and first cousins (children of her deceased aunt and uncle Mary Ellen Myers-Bowers and John J.) whom being approximately 12 and 10 years Dolores’ senior, forever became identifiable to Dolores as her “big brother” and “big sister” respectively. As a young girl, Dolores enjoyed and always fondly remembered spending time with her grandparents: babcia Adolfina (Adela) Możejko-Horonkiewicz and dziadzi Władysław (Walter) Horonkiewicz (original name Arłukiewicz), memories she carried forward cherishing similar times spent with her own Grandchildren.
Dolores was a loving, kind, thoughtful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, in addition to being a caregiver while raising her own family to her uncle, aunt, dziadzi and both parents. Dolores would always put the needs and comforts of others before her own.
For many years Dolores enjoyed regularly playing cards with her friends, remained friends since first grade at St. Mary’s School with her Maid of Honor Margaret Dolan-Renai, and after her husband Chester passed, spent a lot of pleasurable time, before their passing, with close friends Joan (from cards) and her husband Leonard Huhn pursuing shared interests and hobbies. While Dolores did work a few jobs while raising her own family, her most beloved roles were that of wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Dolores was predeceased by her younger brother Joseph Francis Myers Jr., Uncle David R. J. Myers, Aunt Elsie Horonkiewicz-Grubb, both parents, “big brother” John Joseph (Jack) Bowers and Wife Czesława (Tessie) Szubielska of Wilmington, her loving and devoted husband of 45 years Chester Francis Terepka of Wilmington (originally Greenpoint, NY) and “big sister” Elizabeth (Betty) Mary Bowers-Donohoe and Husband Leonard Bernard (Bernie) Donohoe Jr. of Enola, PA.
Dolores is survived by her daughter Terry Spadaro (Joseph) and son Thomas Francis Terepka both of Wilmington; grandchildren Joseph Spadaro (Alyssa Walker), Michelle Phulpoto (Rameez), Stephanie Spadaro and Christina Spadaro (John Ariganello).
