Diane Marie (Herr) Day

Diane M. Day (Herr), 76, of Newark, Delaware, peacefully passed away with loved ones by her side on March 25, 2024. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.

Diane was born on January 19, 1948, to Samuel and Lillian Herr in Lancaster, PA. As a young lady, she enjoyed water skiing and snow skiing.

On October 19, 1968, Diane married the love of her life, Walter Day. Diane and Walter had four children. As a young stay at home mom, she managed the household well, getting a lot out of a shoestring budget. She was a wizard at finding deals and used every coupon the stores would allow.

When all of her children were school aged, Diane enjoyed a successful career in customer service. She started at Jamesway. Then, she furthered her career with some schooling and a job at Discover Card Services.

After retiring, Diane enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She gave her creations to others as gifts of love.

Diane is preceded in death by her parents Samual and Lillian Herr and her sister Lois Brown. Her husband Walter Day preceded her in death, and they are now reunited.

She is survived by her brother John Herr (Kathy); children Stephanie Davila, Patricia Day, Brian Day (Megan) and Alecia Fox; grandchildren Tylor, Joel, Jacob and Rosa; great grandchildren Avery, Braylynn and De’lilah; nephews Howard Brown (Cindy), Tom Herr, Tim Herr (Tara), Dan Herr (Holli), and many more beloved nephews and nieces.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may visit at 10:00am.
