Dante Edmond Piccone, 88, of Glenmoore, Pennsylvania passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 surrounded by his wife and sons at Lankenau Hospital.
Dante was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Antonio and Maria (DiNella) Piccone. He was a graduate of South Catholic High School and received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University. He was an accomplished engineer who worked for General Electric for over 40 years and sponsored or cosponsored hundreds of patents. During his tenure at GE, Dante travelled to many countries including India, Russia, and Japan to present his work and collaborate on many projects. After GE sold the Semiconductor division to a private entity, Dante stayed on in the capacity of senior engineer and continued to work until early April when he became ill.
Dante married the love of his life, Francine Ranieri, in 1972 and together raised 3 boys. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He had many friends from the Monarch Social Club in “South Philly” and maintained relationships even after moving from the city to Glenmoore, Pennsylvania in 1974.
In addition to his parents, Dante was preceded in death by his son, Christopher. He is survived by his wife Francine; sons, David (Leigh Ann), Robert (Cheryl); brother, Roland (Karen); grandchildren, Ashley (Christian), Dante, Tyler (Hope), Casey (Carla) and Haily; 5 great grandchildren; and 5 nieces.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 1900 Delaware Avenue, Wilmington, Delaware 19806 on Friday, May 12 from 9:30 – 10:30AM. A Catholic funeral service will begin at 10:30AM, immediately followed by interment in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, 1600 Sproul Road, Springfield, Pennsylvania 19064.
