Claire Fay Fisher, 88, of Lewes, DE, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Wilmington, daughter of the late Henry and Bessie (White) Solomon.
Claire dedicated her life to her family. She had a kind and giving heart and was loved by all who came in contact with her. Her faith in God was unshakeable even in times of great sorrow.
With her life built upon the pillars of faith and family, she volunteered selflessly at her local church and at her children’s schools. She was also involved in Bible study groups and Church summer camps for children. Claire and Aubrey enjoyed traveling the country in their RV and visited 43 of the 48 contiguous United States. Over the years she enjoyed drawing, visiting art museums, attending the theater, swimming, shopping and she had a life-long desire to always learn and share something new.
Claire will be remembered with great love by her devoted husband and best friend of 70 years, Aubrey Sr.; her three children, Aubrey Fisher, Jr. and his wife, Elaine, Steven Fisher and his wife, Connie, and Barbra Creswell, and her husband, Leonard; her grandchildren, Heather, Nicole, Erin, Kate and Abbey; and her great-grandchildren, Madeline, Gavin, Zoe and Aubrey.
In addition to her parents, Claire was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Wayne, with whom she is now gloriously reunited.
The family will also remember fondly how much Claire loved Christmas and how she made it so special for everyone and how she was always asked to bring her famous potato salad to any family gathering or event.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, February 16, 2018 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00am. Interment will be held in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Claire’s memory can be made to Conley’s United Methodist Church, 33106 Jolyns Way, Lewes, DE 19958.
