Chad Stephen Kalodner, age 49, of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 3rd, 2021.
Chad was born and raised in Vineland New Jersey, the son of Celeste & David Daisey. He graduated from Vineland High School in 1991 and started his career in the United States Marine Corps as an Amphibian Crewman. He was discharged honorably in 1998 as a Corporal. He was awarded the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, Humanitarian Service Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award and the National Defense Service Medal. He continued his career at the Delaware State Department of Corrections as a Staff Sergeant and finished with 21+ years of service. Chad was a one time recipient of the Governor’s Award for Heroism. He was also a 3rd degree Master Mason at Unity Lodge #32.
Chad was loved by many and known to be kind and willing to help anyone. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and teaching the principles of hunting to others. He also enjoyed “thrifting” and was always looking for the next big find. “Chaddy Cakes” had a different sense of humor which many enjoyed, especially if you like dad jokes.
Chad was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Kalodner.
Chad is survived by his loving wife, JoAnna Shatley; his daughter, Jaclyn Kalodner; his son, Ryan Kalodner; his mother, Celeste Daisey; his step-father, David Daisey; and his siblings, Matt Kalodner, Daniel Kalodner, and Christine Daisey; his four pugs; and many other family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 9th, 2021 at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where friends and family may call from 11AM-2PM. A Celebration of Chad’s life will begin at 2PM. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Chad’s name to the Delaware Valley Pug Rescue, P.O. Box 861, Avondale, PA 19311.
