Betty R. (Carver) Markland

Betty R. Markland, age 86, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 17, 2024.

She was born in Johnson City, TN, daughter of the late Joseph and Hazel (Simpson) Carver, and dedicated her life to raising her family.

Betty loved gardening, flowers, shopping, and relaxing on her front porch while drinking coffee and watching the neighborhood children play.

She is survived by her children, Mike Markland (Joan), Sue Sears (Tim), Teresa Adkins (Roger), Frieda Owens, and David and Joseph Markland; her 17 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Henry Markland; and her son, Patrick Markland.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, March 22, 2024 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00am. Interment will be held in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
