Barry Joseph Mullins

Barry Joseph Mullins, 54, of Hockessin, DE passed away at home on the morning of April 19, 2021.  He was born the middle child to Dennis and Karen (Gladstone) Mullins on September 21, 1966 in Boston, MA.  He moved to Delaware when he was accepted into the City of Wilmington Police Academy in 1991.  He married his wife, Melissa Kay on July 13, 2002 in Greenville, DE.

He served Wilmington as a police officer for 30 years and finished his career with the rank of Master Sergeant.  Barry will be remembered for his calm demeanor and strong, yet quiet presence.  His greatest joy has always been his 3 daughters, whom he cherished and protected with everything he had.

Barry is survived by his wife, Melissa (Kay); their 3 daughters, Reese, Lainey, and Tessa; his mother, Karen; his brother, Daniel and wife, Christine and their children, Kerry and Sean; and his sister, Sherri and her daughter, Delaney. 

He was predeceased by his father, Dennis.

Barry is also survived by his parents-in-law, Charles and Linda (Gavin) Kay; and sisters-in-law, Rachel Kay and Amanda Kay.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 4-6 pm at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808.  Interment will be private.
