Ann Elizabeth (Strasburg) Malgire

Ann E. Malgire, 86, of Wilmington, DE went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 10, 2018.

Ann was born in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Elizabeth and Benjamin Strasburg.  She graduated from La Salle High School in Niagara Falls and moved to Delaware in 1960.

Ann was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Newark, DE for over 40 years. She worked at JC Penney’s after she raised her children. Ann lived in Pinecrest for 57 years where she was a very kind and loving neighbor and friend. She was an accomplished seamstress, baker, and loved to crotchet. She was also very smart, completing the NY Times crossword puzzles (in ink) and she always won at Trivial Pursuit. Most of all, she was a wonderful mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Malgire, and former husband, Marvin Anderson.

She is survived by her six children, Debbie Hakkarainen and her husband, Jerry of Waterford, PA, Heather Riley and her husband, James of St. Pete Beach, FL, Bruce Carlton and his wife, Tina of Newark, DE, Mark Anderson of Locust Point, MD, Enoch Anderson and his wife, Tina of Newark, DE and Kirsten Lemon of Newark, DE. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and her dear friend, John Lane.

Ann’s family would like to thank the staff at Mill Croft Nursing Home and at Seasons Hospice for their care and compassion.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 135 Old Baltimore Pike, Newark, DE 19702, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00am.
