Alice Kempski Obituary

Alice E. Kempski, age 83, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021 with her loving family by her side.

Born in Wilmington, DE, Alice was the daughter of the late Margaret (Tyrrell) and Walter E. Smith, Jr. She was a graduate of St. Elizabeth High School Class of 1955, as well as the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing. Before retiring, Alice was a registered nurse at Family Practice Associates for over 25 years.

Family was the center of Alice’s world. She treasured spending time with her family and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s many activities. In the summer, many special memories will be remembered from their annual family vacations at the beach.

Alice also enjoyed getting together with “The Card Club”, her close group of girlfriends that all attended St. Elizabeth’s High School together. They enjoyed getting together for lunch and traveling together. She was also active with her local NAMI group. In her leisure time, Alice was an avid reader of current events.

Alice was predeceased by her husband, Bernard B. Kempski, Jr.; her parents; her brothers, Christopher Smith and Walter E. Smith, III; and her sister, Mary Charles Santopietro, Ed.D. She is survived by her children, Michael S. Kempski (Anne Cecil Kempski), Ann Kempski (Mark Pfefferle), Carolyn “Lynn” McCormack, Luke Kempski (Susan) and Matthew M. Kempski; her grandchildren, Justin, Janelle, Grant, Tesia, Bobby, Zoe and Annelise; her great grandchildren, Sabrina, Ethan and Luca; her brother, William P. Smith; her brother-in-law, Rev. Leonard J. Kempski; as well as many nieces and nephews.
