Suzanne Bousquet Milligan, 87, died suddenly on June 6, 2018. Suzanne was born in Wilmington, Delaware in 1931 to Euclid and Alyce Bousquet. Suzanne graduated from Ursuline Academy (1948) and St. Joseph’s College in Emmitsburg, Maryland (1952). She is survived by her husband, Edward Allen Milligan, and her children Leslie (Tom) Healey; Amy Milligan; Laura (Andy Lendway) Milligan; and Andrew Milligan, and her beloved granddaughters, Samantha, Anne, Rose, Calla & Emily. She is also survived by her very dear lifelong friends, the Lews and the Harrisons, and her chosen daughters, Charlene, Lisa, MaryLou, Maureen, Susan and Suzanne.
The foundation of Suzanne’s strength was her faith, and the love and trust that she shared with Edward, her husband and soul mate of 64 years. What a team they made. Suzanne loved being a mother and was proud that her children were not only siblings, but also best friends. She was extremely proud of her 5 granddaughters and the strong women that they are becoming (as well as their love of jewelry). Suzanne cherished her years as a teacher at Immaculate Heart of Mary. To her last day she was overwhelmed and took great joy at how many students remembered her, and took time to see her and talk to her.
Suzanne was a grand woman with a regal and refined presence, and a wisdom and strength, rooted in the faith she willingly shared. Suzanne was an elegant and warm hostess, always ready to entertain, but also forever committed to stamping out home cooking. Her home was warm, welcoming, filled with love and laughter, and never short of volume. Suzanne knew that friends would remember an evening with the Milligans because of the warmth, happiness, energy and the sound.
Suzanne was predeceased by her parents Alyce Luley and Euclid Wilfred Bousquet, and her brother Paul Edward Bousquet.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, June 13, beginning at 10:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial starting at 11:30 AM. Both will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4701 Weldin Road, Wilmington, Delaware 19803. Interment will immediately follow the services, and will be held at All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, Delaware, 19808.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Ministry of Caring in care of Emmanuel Dining Room, 115 East 14th Street, Wilmington, Delaware 19801. Suzanne and Ed cooked for many years to help Emmanuel provide meals to those in need.
The loss is great, the love greater. Our mother left us with a message: My children, march on, march on. And we will.
