Nicholas "Nick" Murphy Obituary

Nicholas Matthew Edward Murphy, age 39, died suddenly on Sunday, March 31, 2019.

Born in Wilmington, Nick is the son of Martin and Jeannie (Foster) Murphy. He was a graduate of Christiana High School Class of 1998 and had attended Delaware Tech Community College. After graduating, Nick was a carpet installer and had his own business, Kick In Carpet, for many years. He then worked at Siemens for five years, where he had met many of his close friends. Nick had also worked at All For Fun Party Rentals, before becoming a Production Operator for Rogers Corporation for the past year.

Family was the most important thing to Nick. He had an amazing love for his nieces and nephews, who loved him as a father figure as well as the “fun uncle”. Nick made each of his nieces and nephews feel unique and special in their own way. Holiday traditions were very important and Nick loved everyone getting together for the holidays. From the annual Easter egg hunt to picking out the perfect Christmas tree each year, many special memories will be treasured from the fun family gatherings.

A big kid at heart, Nick loved riding roller coasters, going to amusement parks, and Frightland. He enjoyed bowling and disc golfing, as well as playing baseball. Nick was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Bears fan. He also enjoyed crabbing and metal detecting, as well as traveling. In his leisure time, Nick could be found watching some of his favorite TV shows, such as the Real World, Jersey Shore, and This Is Us, as well as his favorite movie, The Karate Kid.

Nick will be remembered for his kind heart and his amazing hugs. There wasn’t anyone who didn’t love Nick.

Nick was predeceased by his infant daughter, Khylie Faith Murphy. He is survived by his parents, Martin and Jeannie Murphy; his brother, Chris Murphy and his girlfriend Monica Buono; his sister, Angie Cosgrove; his nieces and nephews, Christian Campbell, Sean Murphy, Ethan Cosgrove, Erik Romano, Katie Murphy, Adrian Cosgrove, Giuli Romano, Enzo Romano, Abby Cosgrove, Brody Cosgrove and Chase Cosgrove; as well as many family members and friends. He is also dearly missed by his beloved dog, Schmidt.
