On Sunday, April 29, 2018, our beloved mom and mother-in-law peacefully entered her eternal life at the age of 94. She was surrounded by loving family in the comfort of her home.
Daughter of the late Paul and Aleksandra Matuszewski, Jennie was born in Wilmington on June 24, 1923. She married the love of her life, Michael Musacchio. Through good times and bad, for 54 years, they were always a team, “Mike and Jennie”, never one without the other. Inseparable in life, they are now reunited in eternity.
Jennie was a very talented homemaker who devoted her life to caring for family, relatives and neighbors. A devout Catholic and life-long parishioner of St. Stanislaus and then St. Ann Parishes, she lived a life of unending selflessness every day, always offering whatever was needed – a kind word, a helping hand, tender care for the sick, a shoulder to cry on, and incredible home-cooked food. The life mom led inspired her family and everyone she met. She will be truly, truly missed.
In addition to her parents, mom was predeceased by her beloved husband, Mike, in early 1998, and all of her siblings: John, Peter, Hedwig Hrynyshyn, Elizabeth Marchello, and Regina Vento, as well as their spouses. She was also predeceased by her husband’s siblings: Frank, Charles, Anthony and Joseph, as well as their spouses.
Left to cherish memories of mom are her two sons, Michael and Anthony; her daughter, Angela Kauffman (Mark); along with extended family on both sides.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to her cardiologist, Dr. Ronald Lewis, and to the visiting nurses (most especially Wendy) and staff (most especially Gina) of Compassionate Care of Newport, Delaware for the wonderful care they provided for mom, particularly these last few months.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Doherty Funeral Home, 1900 Delaware Avenue, Wilmington on Monday, May 7 from 9:30-10:30AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann Catholic Church, Gilpin Avenue and N. Union Street at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Ann’s Parish, 2013 Gilpin Avenue, Wilmington, DE 19806, or to any charitable organization that supports the dignified care of our elderly.
