The good Lord decided on Sunday, May 20, 2018 it was time for Jim to join his beloved wife, Mary in His heavenly home.
Jim was born to James W. and Matilda Casper in Sharpsburg, PA. After high school, he had a choice of college (University of Pittsburgh) or the navy. He joined the navy and was stationed on the ship USS William M. Wood.
He came to Delaware in 1958 for the Dupont Company working at the Louvier’s site where he met and enjoyed many, many friends.
On many trips back to Pittsburgh, he met Mary Alice Philbin and fell in love. They married and found a house in Arundel where they spent many happy years together.
Jim carpooled with Dot Saypack, Dick Britt and Phil Muhmichl. Their friendship grew and they became family, always sharing holidays and vacations in Wildwood, NJ.
After Mary passed away, Jim moved to Cokesbury Village in 2014 and started a new life. He said he lived in a 5 star Hotel. He enjoyed the people he met, bridge and learning to work the computer. His favorite past times was working the New York Times puzzles and the daily cryptogram.
Jim is survived by 2 nieces and his loving sister in law, Theresa of Pittsburgh, PA He was fortunate enough to have Chris and Candi who were there for him all the time. They were like his adopted children.
Jim will be missed dearly by Chris and Candi who were exceptionally close to him. We would like to thank the staff of Cokesbury for their outstanding and compassionate care and concern for Jim.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 24 at 11 am at St. John the Beloved Church, 905 Milltown Rd., where friend may visit from 10-11 am.
