Bohdan “Bo” Paranczak, age 74, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 17, 2018 with his loving family by his side.
Born in a German Work Camp during World War II, Bo was of Ukrainian descent. He was the son of the late Oleksa and Olena (Bajkowski) Paranczak. In 1950, Bo along with his parents immigrated to the United States. He was a graduate of A.I. DuPont High School Class of 1962. After serving in the U.S. Army, Bo married the love of his life, Cynthia Golt, in 1970.
Before retiring, Bo worked at Chrysler for 31 years. While at Chrysler, he was proud to be selected as a Community Representative for Chrysler with the United Way. Bo was also a longtime faithful member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church.
Family and a tight circle of friends were the center of Bo’s life. His children and his four grandchildren were his pride and joy. He treasured spending time with his family, especially supporting his grandchildren at all of their sports and activities. Bo was fiercely loyal, dedicated and deeply caring towards his family and close friends.
In his leisure time, Bo was an accomplished woodworker, gardener and landscaper. He was an avid University of Delaware Football fan, where he was a longtime season ticket holder and tailgater. Bo also enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles, as well as playing chess.
Bo is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 48 years, Cynthia L. (Golt) Paranczak; his son, Christopher Bohdan Paranczak (Kerry); his daughter, Cynthia Lynn Youngcourt (Patrick Healey); his grandchildren, Kaylee, Gabriel, Izaak and Amelia; his brother, Gene Paranczak (Stacey); as well as many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
A viewing will begin at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, November 21 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 800 Lea Boulevard, Wilmington, DE 19802, followed by Divine Liturgy at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church.
