My sincerest condolences to the Lovell family on your loss. I came to know Stewart through our work together at DNREC and could always rely on Stewart to cut to the heart of the matter, often with witty embellishments, which were always appreciated. His knowledge of Delaware's water resources and the systems in place to protect them was vast and we are all better for his sharing of that. Thank you to the family for sharing him with us and peace be with you...

I enjoyed working with Stewart very much. I could always rely on him to answer any questions and provide information. I am shocked that he is suddenly gone as I am sure you are too. I am sorry for your loss. You and Stewart are in my prayers.

I was shocked and saddened to see that Stewart had passed away. He was much too young to leave us. I knew Stewart from my years with the Division of Fish and Wildlife in DNREC as the Administrator of the Fisheries Section. Stewart and I worked on water supply issues, both for the ponds of DE and upstate streams. I hadn't seen him since I retired in 2009. My condolences to his family and close friends. He was a good guy and very dedicated to his work.

I got to know Stewart when I was Ombudsman with the Public Service Commission and can say he was one of the best people I have ever had the pleasure of working with in State government.
His honesty and frankness was so deeply appreciated and his expertise on water issues was beyond belief. Thank you for having shared him with us. We are all better for having known him.

Stewart was always a pleasure to be around. Being new to the industry in 1998 Stewart helped form my experiences with on the spot advise and coaching. His wealth of experience was freely shared and he easily talked geology in a way that an Engineer could understand. No matter how difficult a meeting may be, he was able to see past the stress and throw in some humor. What a pleasure and joy it was working with him. We cry because he's gone, we smile because we knew him.

Stewart dedicated his career at DNREC to water resource management for the Citizens of the State of Delaware. He was key in the success of major efforts for preparing Delaware for water shortages working collaboratively with many others over the last decade of his career here; he was always front and center when the state was faced with handling periodic droughts. Stewart was my supervisor for many years and he allowed me and all his staff to grow and solve problems before he got involved. He also was our 'un-official' weather forecaster. He kept us abreast of his beach home project and loved the shore, both in North Carolina and New Jersey. My sincere condolenses to Cindy and Jeff on the loss of a husband and father.

So many wonderful memories of surfing on 7th Street, the trips to Hatteras and hanging out with the gang at the shore. Happy times! We are so thankful that I was able to spend time in March at the house at the Shore with you guys. Buddy left us too quickly. We weren't ready. Cindy and Jeff, you are in our hearts...our thoughts and prayers. We love you guys. We miss you, Buddy.

Stewart was the big brother I always wished I had. He was warm and caring, especially when it really counted. He was also very intelligent and knowledgeable - you really had to know what you were talking about when you got into a discussion with him! And asking a question would yield a dissertation on the subject... His quick wit and dry sense of humor will always be with me. Stewart was truly an integral part of my "Delaware family" and I will miss him greatly. I hope that I will be able to be of some comfort to Cindy, Jeff, and "Mom" as they move forward. I love you all.
