Robert L. Hunter, Sr., 87, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, surrounded by his family.
Bob was born in Triadelphia, WV, to William and Jeanette Hunter. He was very proud to have served in the Marine Corps. He then worked for the PA Railroad and Conrail for 27 years, which brought him to Wilmington. He was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Parish for 46 years.
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. His greatest joy was being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a lifelong fan of the Cowboys and Yankees.
In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his wife, Catherine; 3 brothers; 2 sisters; and his grandson, Robert L. Hunter, III.
He is survived by his son, Robert L. Jr. (Laura); daughters, Deborah Dugan (David Beideman), Mary Kay Micucio (Richard) and Sandy Jones (Tim); 2 brothers-in-law; 3 sisters-in-law; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 5:00 – 7:00pm on Tuesday, April 4th 2017, at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Wednesday, April 5th 2017, at St. Elizabeth Church, Cedar and Clayton Streets, Wilmington, DE 19805. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
