Seeing the passing of my friend Kathy today has reminded me of the many adventures we had in high school staying out of trouble. Sleep overs at her parents eating pretzel rings with her mom and pops. I was fortunate to have spent time with Kathy again a few years ago during potluck dinners with good friends. We cooked, drank wine and remembered fun times. Kathy was my best friend. I miss her so much! We could go a month or more without talking on the phone. When one of us called the other, it was like we had just talked the day before. We talked about things we would never talk to anyone else about. We had lots and lots of fun, with our daughters, going out dancing (and a few drinks) or just her and I, which I will treasure for life. When times were really bad and she was out of remission, I would be there for her, whatever she needed. Then when things were really bad for me, she was right there by my side. My husband Gary hasn't known her as long as me, but loved her very much and would do anything for her. We will miss her voice, her laugh and her fashion style (she could put together fantastic outfits). Boy did she look great! Whenever she'd greet you, it was always with an upbeat attitude and a smile on her face. She was one in a million! I don't know what I'll do without her! We love and pray for Chuck and will always be there for him. The same goes for my 'daughter', Beth, her husband John and our 'grandchildren', Joseph and Gracie.
'May the road rise to meet you, may the Wind always be at your back, the Sun shine warm upon your face, the Rain fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of his hand.
