Henry G. Miller

Henry G. Miller, 74 of Bear, DE died in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family on Friday, August 19, 2016.

Henry was born on September 3, 1941, son of the late George and Martha (Wiest) Miller and was raised in Hockessin, DE.  At the age of 18, Henry married his sweetheart, Lois (Stike) Miller, and they had two children, a son, Henry Jr., and a daughter, Robin.  Following the unexpected illness and death of his first wife, Lois, Henry was happily married to Maureen (DiFilippo) Williams Miller. 

Henry was an exceptional heavy equipment operator and spent his early years working with and for R.C. Peoples.  He later founded his own business, Henry Miller & Son, Inc. and worked side by side with his wife, Lois, his son, Henry Jr. and his grandson, Matthew. 

When Henry wasn’t hard at work he enjoyed his passion for cars.  In his early years, Henry and his family spent their weekends at the drag races.  Later in his life, Henry’s passion turned to street rods.  He joined the Delaware Street Rods Club and because of his enthusiasm for street rods, he became the NSRA Delaware Representative.  Henry happily served in this position from July 1998 until his death.

Henry is survived by his wife, Maureen Miller; his son, Henry Miller Jr. (Karen); his daughter, Robin Miller Dugan; and his grandsons, Matthew Miller, George Miller, Henry Dugan and Alex Dugan.

Friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Friday, August 26 from 5:00 – 7:00PM.

Funeral services and interment will be held privately.
