Rick Armbruster

Richard J. Armbruster, 58, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 16, 2018.

Rick was born in Wilmington, son of the late Jack and Betty Armbruster. He was a graduate of Delcastle Technical High School and worked at Communications Printing for several years. He also served as a volunteer firefighter with the West Grove Fire Company.

Rick enjoyed spending time at the Delaware beaches, whether on the sand in Bethany, or boating in the Indian River Inlet and Bay. He enjoyed listening to music, especially Barry Manilow and was an avid fan of the New England Patriots. Some of his favorite pastimes were enjoying crab cakes from Woody’s in Dewey Beach and going camping with all of his children. Above all else, he cherished the time he spent with his children and family. Rick was a genuinely caring person and always put the needs of others before his own.

Rick is survived by his daughter, Sammy Armbruster (Chris); his son, Richie Armbruster (Maria); his sisters, Barbara Howard (Ronald), Carol Anderson (John), and Donna Drummond (Rob); his girlfriend, Michelle Decker, and her son, Kevin; his best friend, Barry Birney (AnneMarie); his many “adopted” children, Chris, Cherish, and their daughter, Aubree, Fred and Justin; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and members of his extended family.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30pm on Friday, January 19, 2018, at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may visit beginning at 11:00am. Interment will be held in Silverbrook Cemetery.
