Zelma M. Robinson, age 82, of Kennett Square, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, January 24th, 2020 with her loving family by her side.
The daughter of the late Homer E. Crossan and Ellen E. O’Brien, Zelma was born in a farmhouse in Hockessin on April 8, 1937. She was wed to James Robinson on November 12, 1959 with whom she had two loving sons. Along with being a wife and mother, Zelma was also a salesperson and worked at various places such as Parkway Cleaners and Sheldon’s of Kennett Square.
Zelma was well known for her gourmet cooking abilities and her amazing sewing skills. She frequently made items for friends and family including money bags for loved ones weddings. Zelma was also an active member of the Women’s Auxiliary of Hockessin and the Wilmington Power Squad.
Zelma is survived by her sons, James Homer Robinson and Charles Vincent Robinson; her sister, Eva Weddel; her brother and sister-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins. In addition to her parents, Zelma was predeceased by her husband, James Robinson; her brother, Ralph H. Crossan; and a very special nephew, Adam Ray Robinson.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Friday, January 31st, 2020 from 9:30-11:30am at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. A funeral service for Zelma will begin at 11:30am with interment to follow at Kemblesville United Methodist Church Cemetery.
