Winifred L. “Jinx” Vadala, of Middletown, Delaware, beloved and cherished “Mom” and “Mom-Mom”, passed away on May 21, 2025. The daughter of the late Arthur and Emily Tear, she began life in 1930 in Washington, DC before her family settled in Delaware when she was a child. She and her late husband, Frank J. Vadala, Jr., built their homes and raised their family in Middletown, Delaware.
Mom was the heart and soul of the family and master of many things. If you could create it, sew it, bake it, or cook it -- she did it. She made delicious meals and wonderful treats, especially at Christmas. She enjoyed sewing, making projects, beautiful quilts, fun crafts and the cutest Halloween costumes. She made holidays and birthdays magical. She was always physically active, even rollerblading into her late 70s. She was a Brownie Troop Leader and a volunteer for St. Joseph Parish in Middletown, particularly the May Fair. As a breast cancer survivor, Mom also worked and volunteered to raise money for a cure.
Family was Mom’s greatest joy. She treasured the memories they made together. She was a devoted and loving parent, but one of her greatest joys in life was being a Mom-Mom to her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Mom was predeceased by her husband, Frank. She is survived by her sons, Russell Marando (Tasha) and Michael Marando (Grace); daughter, Frances Resto (Bill); grandchildren, Dawn, Frank, Erik, Ashley and Gabriel; great grandchildren Donald (Valerie) and Anthony (Ashley); and great-great grandchildren, Ryleigh, Kacidee, Kendal, Kevin, Amelia and Maddux.
Mom lived a long life and was loved beyond measure. She will be missed greatly. The world just won’t be the same any longer.
Services were held privately.
