Vincent J. Contento, 95, of Hockessin, Delaware, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 20, 2025.
Born in Cortland, New York, Vin was the beloved son of James and Eugenia (Funaioli) Contento. He graduated from Wilmington High School in 1948 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Delaware in 1952.
Vin enjoyed a distinguished career of more than 30 years with the Bank of Delaware, later PNC Bank, where he met the love of his life, Mary Rita. He was a longtime and devoted member of St. John the Beloved Church, an active participant in the Wilmington Jaycees, and generously served on several boards, including Gilpin Hall.
Known for his warm personality, Vin made friends wherever he went. He found great joy in golf, gardening, classical music, and classic films.
Vin is survived by his three children: Carla Olivo (Ken), Lisa Theodorakis (Tim), and Vincent Contento (Alison); and his six cherished grandchildren: Tyler, Jacqueline, Matthew, Sarah, Kenny, and Caroline, his sisters Mary Muzzi and Amelia Aiello and his brother Cosimo Contento. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Rita, and his parents, Jennie and James Contento.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 5:00–7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 10:30 a.m at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808. Interment will be held privately.
