Vera Sinovich Obituary

With deep love and gratitude of a life well lived, we share the passing of Vera “Buttercup” Sinovich on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.  She was the fourth of eight children born to the late Sebastian and Amelia Evangelisti, in Mildred, PA on March 26, 1927.

She graduated from Cherry Township High School in 1945, where she proudly played basketball and served as a cheerleader, reflecting the spirited and social nature that stayed with her throughout her life.

In 1950, Vera married the love of her life, Michael Sinovich. Together they shared 69 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, travel and countless dances together. Whether at a club, a family gathering, or a special event, they never missed an opportunity to dance.

Vera lived a vibrant and active life and was happiest when surrounded by family, friends, and community. A lifelong member of St. Matthew’s Parish, she was also dedicated to the DE Sports Club, where she served as a track official for more than 40 years. Vera loved fashion, sewing, music, and any occasion that brought people together. She and Michael were members of the New Castle Moose 1578 and the American Legion, where they spent many joyful evenings dancing and socializing with friends. She was also a member of the Girls Club of America and the American Legion Auxiliary, Mildred PA. Vera truly loved being social as she was always the first to arrive and the last to leave any event.

Family was the heart of Vera’s life. She treasured time spent with her loved ones and took great pride in every generation of her family.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Michelle Paoli and Gina Sinovich (Michael Deptula). She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Pat Paoli (Heather), Ashley Kapes (Carl), Frances Anne Burg (Kenny) and Michelle Fenimore (Wayne) and a cherished great-grandmother to Bryce and Brooklyn Kapes and Luca and Siena Paoli. She is also survived by her sister, Arlene Dwojewski (Joseph) and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Michael (2019), her son-in-law, Pasquale Paoli, her siblings and their spouses, Erminia Ritinski (Edward), Raymond Evangelisti (Helen), Ena Novello (Anthony), Elda Ritinski (Joseph), John Evangelisti (Yvonne) and Linda Stevens.

She was lovingly cared for at home by her daughters with the help of her devoted and loving caregiver Linda P. for whom the family is forever grateful.  Caregiver Tammy W. provided respite for an evening out on weekends.

Vera will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her love of dancing and socializing, her sense of style, and above all the deep love she had for her family.

Vera’s family will forever cherish the memories, laughter, and love she brought into their lives.
