Ullabritt Miles Obituary

Ullabritt R. Miles, 79, of Hockessin, Delaware peacefully passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family.  Born in Vetlanda, Sweden on May 31, 1946, she was the beloved daughter of the late Gillis and Ruth Karlsson.

Ulla emigrated from Sweden and made Delaware her home, where she worked as a Para Professional with the Christina School District at Maclary Elementary School.  She was deeply devoted to her work and made a lasting impact on all those around her.

A gifted artist, cook and passionate gardener, Ulla brought beauty into the lives of everyone she encountered.  She found joy in sewing, exploring the beauty of Longwood Gardens, and playing card games such as bridge, pinochle and mahjong with her close friends. Above all, Ulla cherished her role as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Ulla is survived by her husband of 54 years, James W. Miles Sr.; her sons, James W. Miles Jr. and Matthew T. Miles; her grandchildren, Shaianne Miles and her husband, Cameron Newberry, Olivia Miles, Levi Miles, and Nora Miles.  She is also survived by her brother, Jorgen Vennby and his wife, Maj-Kristina Vennby.

A celebration of Ulla’s life will be held at a later date.  Details will be announced when finalized.

In lieu of flowers and to honor her Swedish heritage, donations in Ulla’s memory may be made to Old Swedes Church, 606 N. Church Street, Wilmington, DE 19801 (www.oldswedes.org).
